Meet Roots & Vines ................

Roots and Vines Wine Tours is the result of the convergence of two separate visions. Miguel Boscana, of Reelside Productions has been tasting and collecting fine wines for almost 25 years. There are a precious few wineries in California that he hasn’t been to. James Adams of Exclusive Productions has over 15 years experience, and for the past 10 years, Miguel and James have been doing a tremendous amount of tasting together and comparing notes.

They were constantly aware of the noticeable absence of African Americans and other people of color at almost all of the Wine Festivals, special winery events, charity fundraising wine tastings, etc. they attended. Miguel occasionally conducted private winetasting tours small groups of friends. James and his wife Cassandra would lead private tours and/or car caravans to the wine country. Cassandra (8 years experience) would frequently suggest bringing a busload of people to the wine country. In effect, they were both already operating a tour company.

One day, Miguel half seriously said he should quit his job and become a professional wine tasting guide. James mentioned Cassandra’s idea of taking people to the wine country. They expressed concern over logistics of using large buses and the impersonal nature of having large groups. One of the three mentioned a mini-bus, and within a couple of hours, the improbable became easily doable, and Roots and Vines Wine Tours was born. Since the inaugural tour in November of 1995, Roots & Vines has expanded to six standard routes (5 Sonoma, 1 Livermore). In addition, we host Winemaker Dinners, conduct winetastings and seminars, and providing consulting services for wine tasting fund raisers.

Roots and Vines Wine Tours has one main objective: eliminate the mysteries fine wines and its culture, and have a good time while we’re at it. Our focus is wine education. The last thing we'll do is to just take you to the door of an winery and say 'Okay, go taste wine.'. We will give you the information you need to make your wine tasting experience a memorable one.

We have no intention of making you an overnight expert or a connoisseur of wine tasting. Instead, we hope to pique your curiosity and unlock the door leading to (hopefully) many a great wine and food experience.
